Malaysia - Pangkor

Pangkor is a much smaller island than Penang, a bit further south.  Its beaches are no less impressive

With shade from monkey filled trees to keep you from getting too hot

Regular dips into the sea were a must between chapters of my book

This dog had recently been hit by a motorcycle.  Its foster family (who were feeding it), were getting eaten out of house and home.  It would also scrouge food from restaurant guests.  I wanted to put it in my rucksack

There doesn't seem to be a lot of recorded history from the island, but there is this Dutch Fort from the 16th Century that was built to house tin and supplies and protect them from the local tribes.  In short, the tribes kept making deals, then breaking them and attacking the Dutch.  They eventually left, never to return

Dave, 'Smoke me a kipper......................'

These watchtowers were all over the coastal road, which only took 20 mins to ride around.  Reminded me of the Bob Dylan song every time I saw one.....

Although the beach we stayed at was the best on the island, the others weren't bad

You could see quite far once you'd climbed up them

Jungle occupied the inner parts of Pangkor and you could do trekking.  A few years ago some Malaysian Policemen got lost up there, so they warn you to be careful
After a few days on the beach, we were ready for something different.  We left by the early morning ferry and saw the sunrise at the ferry pier
