Chiang Mai - Zoo

You could get really close to some of the birds and animals

It's a few kms north of Chiang Mai.  They're not as stringent as UK zoos and you can touch some of the animals, or feed them, which I'm sure isn't good for them

The wild boar were quite cute, there were loads of them and people would feed them over the very low fence

This hippo was really close and we moved off just as it started to crap and flick it over the wall with its tail, phew!

Looks cute but I was very glad for the wall between us

Paul wasn't so lucky......

The food they fed the giraffes wasn't exactly what I thought it would be!

I saw a panda for the first time

And then another just afterwards.  It was pacing around and didn't seem too happy.  We were only a few feet from it and had had the flashes on our cameras taped up and told to be quiet so as not to disturn it

Some of the animals were already quite disturbed

Some of the animals were just plain showing off

Great camoflague and didn't move the whole time we were there

We saw a destruction derby

These are Bengal Tigers, not albinos, as I thought.  The white fur is due to a recessive gene

This cat didn't stop staring at me.  If it'd come over......

The tigers were a bit agitated.  If they'd come over........ I would've been fine.  I run quicker than Paul

I was attacked by a massive ugly killer bird, but luckily got away.  It was like being out in town.....

Cute!
