Indonesia - Lombok & Gili Islands

This is Sengiggi, Lombok.  Lombok is the island to the immediate right of Bali and a little smaller.  Whereas Bali is mainly Hindu, Lombok is mainly Muslim
In Lombok, don't piss the Vespa riders off...
The Gili Islands are all round Lombok, but the main 3 are off to the north west, very close together and are called Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan.  This is Air, the smallest and fairly quiet and chilled.  Freak waves came in as we sat there and nearly destroyed this boat until the (very brave) boatman jumped onboard and took it further out

Gili Air is great for snorkeling.  I swam with a turtle there.  We stayed in a place called Blue Moon Bungalows.  There was another place called Scalliwags which we nearly went to
Finding somewhere to chill isn't difficult

No vehicles are allowed on the Gili Islands, so horse and cart do the work and taxiing

There are loads of raised beach places to sit and enjoy a beer

We watched the sun set at one

It's one of the best places we've seen the sunset at

We've had worse evenings...

Singapore - Zoo

Singapore has an aquarium, zoo and night zoo.  We've seen many underwater sights whilst snorkling and never could get photos, so was good to get a snapshot of some things we'd see at the aqaurium

The coral is always very busy with fish

These were very popular around south Malaysia

And these around Lombok and Gili Islands, Indonesia

Only ones I know due to Finding Nemo.  They always hide in the coral and peek out

Strange upside mushroom style

Getting 40 winks?

Psychedellic

Furthest we'd been, this is Sentosa Island, Singapore, practically on the equator

The mahouts and elephants had a fantastic relationship and could work together to even turn around on the log and walk back the way it came!

The show started as soon as we'd entered the zoo, so we ran to get it

It was quite comical with some slapstick humour and they celebrated National Day, the next day

They danced too

Another white tiger, not doing very much

The otters were very cute and came over to anyone new, hoping for food, squeaking at you

The orangutans could go on the trees over the paths through a network of ropes and bridges

And came down on the paths with the zoo keepers, a couple of times per day

Didn't seem to like everyone looking at it

I had to put on 'sports mode' as a camera setting to capture this rapid mover

Behind glass, thankfully

No way you'd see this in leaves - eek

Very beautiful but constantly felt like I was looking at a 3d picture

Tough mother and also very stupid - obviously a few like that in Manchester after seeing rioting on news

Singapore - Universal Studios

Yes, they do have one on the smaller, 'Sentosa Island', just to the south of (and part of) Singapore
It's a bit smaller than the Florida one, but just as busy with lots of stuff to keep you busy during the day

This is Battlestar Galatica, the best rollercoaster there.  It's actually 2 running simultaneously, one sitting, one hanging - fun, fun, fun...

Different

Maybe just for the weekends...

Only for weddings..

The start of the Mummy Ride

I was a little excited...

Impressive

Outside the Mummy ride was this actor.  You could queue up to have your photo taken with her

Not surprisingly, the queue was full of men

Sentosa Island houses Universal Studios, but also other attractions and walks.  It's the Singapore 'fun' island and gets quiite busy at the weekends
This is on the ski lift to the start of the toboggan run, for a second go

It was fun, but Paul beat me on the second run.  There was defo something wrong with my toboggan, or the track, or something....
